The Nintendo Wii Phenomenon
Why Nintendo Wii is the worldwide video game console
leader
Nintendo Wii has rapidly taking over the video game industry
and become the worldwide video game console leader. Find out
how it did this.
The story of the Wii is a very interesting story. Created by
Nintendo CO. Ltd, a company who has been in the industry for a
long time, the story of how it went to #1 is very remarkable.
Despite the fact that it’s a remake of another console called
Nintendo Revolution, the graphics are far inferior to its
competitors as is the features, this system has rapidly become
the best selling system. Here are the reasons why it has become
so popular
Reason #1 -
Price: Nintendo Wii is
certainly the most affordable console out of the big three.
With a weak economy, price is certainly going to be a
consideration when making a decision to purchase a video game
console. In addition, because it doesn’t require such high
graphic powers, consumers don’t feel compelled to purchase
additional electronics to take full advantage of the system’s
power, like a high definition television.
Reason #2 -
Unique Service Proposition -
Nintendo Wii sets itself apart from its competitors with it’s
unique service proposition, namely the interactive remote
control features. Competing video game companies offer standard
controls that can be found with any of the consoles. With its
motion-sensor technology and the ability for players to engage
in real movements this gives players a new level of interaction
with a video game. Because of this unique feature, the Wii
doesn’t have to compete by promising super powerful and super
engaging video games like Xbox 360 and the Playstation III
As a result of these two reasons, this has resulted in the Wii
becoming immensely popular. When featured at trade shows, you
see huge lines of fans lined up ready to play the game and see
what else it has to offer.
Although video games have been around for
decades, the Wii has engaged the player in a way that the
player has never been engaged before. There has never been
a video game system that has let people interact with
games without being tied down to traditional joysticks in
a way that the Wii has. Even people who aren’t big video
game fans find that they enjoy the Nintendo Wii.
Nintendo Wii has made a huge impact on the video game
experience. As long as Nintendo is able to continue to leverage
on it’s strengths, it will be able to lead the video game
industry for years to come just like it did in the past with
the original NES console.
